WasntMe is a Chrome extension that finds adult websites and explicit searches in your browsing history and lets you erase only those traces.
In short
WasntMe does not collect, transmit, sell or share any data. Everything happens locally, inside your browser. The extension has no server, no analytics, no tracking and makes no network requests.
What the extension accesses, and why
| Data | Why | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing history (URLs, page titles) | To find adult websites and explicit searches, and to delete the entries you choose | Read in memory during a scan, never stored or sent |
| Download list | To remove download entries coming from those websites (the files themselves are not deleted) | Read in memory, never stored or sent |
| Cookies, site data and cache | To clear them only for the websites you choose to clean | Deleted by Chrome, never read |
| Address of the current tab | To notice when you visit a detected website, so its cookies can be cleaned later and the badge can be updated | The site's origin is kept in Chrome's local extension storage until you clean it |
| Your settings (extra domains, allowlist, options) | To remember your preferences | Chrome's local extension storage, on your device only |
The extension also stores the date and number of traces found by the last scan, to show them on the home screen and in the icon badge.
What the extension never does
- It never sends your history, searches or any other data to a server, including ours: we have none.
- It never uses your data for advertising, profiling or any purpose other than the cleaning feature described above.
- It never sells or transfers data to third parties.
- It never loads or runs remote code.
Deleting your data
Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it stored (settings and remembered website origins).
And this website?
Data controller
Guillaume Ducuing, 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France. Contact: contact form.
Contact form
When you write to us, we collect your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message.
Purpose: replying to your request. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the messages you send us.
Recipient: Formspree, which delivers the messages to us by email. Formspree is based in the United States; these transfers are covered by the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Retention: messages are kept for up to 3 years after our last exchange, then deleted.
Anti-spam protection
The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, loaded on the contact page only and only if you accept it. Google may then collect technical data (IP address, browser information, cookies) to tell humans from bots, under its own privacy policy. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Details in our cookie policy.
Search statistics
We use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google results: search queries, impressions, clicks and average position. These statistics are aggregated by Google from its search engine: Search Console adds no cookie, script or tracker to this site and does not identify visitors.
Audience measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are viewed. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. It records the page visited, the referring site, your country, and your device type, operating system and browser. Your IP address is not stored: a temporary identifier, computed from the request and deleted after 24 hours, is only used to count unique visitors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring the site’s traffic.
Support button
The site shows a support button provided by Buy Me a Coffee. To display it, your browser loads it from their servers, which receive technical data (IP address, browser information). If you open it or make a donation, Buy Me a Coffee processes your data under its own privacy policy.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, which may keep technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and to run the service. We use no advertising or tracking tools.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its processing, ask for its portability and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us via the contact form.
You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
